The Coombe Trust’s association with Lloyds’ of London and the Lloyd’s Art Group gores back many decades and is a most treasured relationship.  Founded in 1957 by broker Don Coombe, the Trust is today run by his son, David.  It is a charming, transparent, hard-working charity that makes a huge and direct difference to local people in need.

through the support of our ar group and the Lloyd’s community, many thousands of pounds have been raised and put to good use, assisting with the provision of holidays and respite breaks at six seaside homes available year round free of charge.

More recently the homeless project Street Souls has really captures the imagination.  On the 1st and 3rd Friday of each month, David puts on his chef’s hat and magics up huge batches of delicious hot meals.  A substantial crew of dedicated volunteers then enables the distribution of the food, along with sleeping bags, toiletries, clothing and essential items, friendship and advice.

In an exciting new venture last year, Sir Ian McKellen officially opened the Trust’s new gallery ARTFUL PELICAN  in London SE3.

The aim of the Artful Pelican is to provide an outlet where many talented individuals who are homeless or vulnerable may display and sell their art.

Other artists are welcome to exhibit in the gallery (which is non-profit and without salaries) for a minimum donation of 25% of any sale.

Within the same property, the Park Bench Studio provides equipment and working space free of charge to homeless or vulnerable artist.
